Right on schedule, OS X EL Capitan is now available for download. It replaces OS X Yosemite, Apple’s radical redesign of its desktop operating system. El Capitan brings in a Notes app that mimics the iOS version, and new features for Maps and Safari. It also has a nice new window management system that lets you evenly split your screen between two apps. El Cap also rolls Metal into the mix, which is up to 40 percent faster than Open GL.
